Kiyzassky Open-Pit Mine took part in the My Green Yard campaign dedicated to Kuzbass’ 300th anniversary

The company participated in three environmental events at once as part of the regional landscaping project

Employees of the Kiyzassky Open-Pit Mine planted more than 100 oak saplings along the service road to the mine. “Oak is a strong, long-living tree with large spreading branches. The seedlings will take root and grow, and, in a few years, they will form a beautiful hedgerow,” the company said.

On the same day, members of the Kiyzas volunteer group distributed 300 oak saplings to the residents of Myski with instructions for planting and caring for them. Kiyzassky Open-Pit Mine assisted in preparing the plants and brochures for the traditional event.

“This is already the second year in a row we’ve taken part in this environmental campaign with the volunteers. Trees are the lungs of our planet. When a person plants a tree, even just on our site, they do a good deed for nature and those around us,” said Andrey Borshchevich, General Director of the Kiyzassky Open-Pit Mine.

Some 4,300 Siberian pine saplings were also planted in a 4.5-hectare area just outside the mine’s perimeter as part of the recultivation project.

“The Kiyzassky Open-Pit mine is one of the locomotives of the district’s economy,” noted Yevgeny Timofeev, head of the Myskovsky Urban District. “The company works not only to achieve production records, but engages in productive social and environmental work as well. Participating in city and regional landscaping programs is part of this. Today, the company supported the region’s My Green Yard campaign. I express my gratitude to the company’s management for their help in carrying out projects that are important for the Myskovsky Urban District,” he added.
