Kiyzassky Open Pit Mine Extends ‘New Life’ Project Another Year

The management of Kiyzassky Open Pit Mine has extended the ‘New Life’ project through 2025. The decision was made in response to the large amount of positive feedback and the company’s commitment to continuing its support for the indigenous Shor people. The conditions for participation and contents of the gift set will remain unchanged.
The ‘New Life’ project was launched in 2024, which President Vladimir Putin declared the Year of the Family in Russia. Under the project, the company presents every family in Myski in which a Shor child is born with a set of items for newborns, containing everything needed for a baby’s first months. The set is carefully assembled down to the smallest detail and includes clothing, diapers, toys, hygiene items, and much more – 33 items in total. In 2024 alone, 12 families received the sets, welcoming 13 newborns.
The first newborn whose family received a gift set was a girl named Polina, born to Maksim and Irina Tokmagashev. The gift proved to be of great value to the family. According to Maksim, almost every single item came in handy:
“Our daughter is still wearing the clothes, though some are getting small – she’s growing by the hour! The diapers were a real lifesaver and lasted us nearly six months. They were high quality, breathable, and comfortable for the baby. The wet wipes ran out in no time. They’re so convenient! We didn’t have to run to the bathroom every time to wash her. Just wipe, and it’s done. We still have some of the creams left – we use them sparingly. You could say it’s our daughter’s first cosmetics kit. And we’re thrilled with the little scissors we use to trim her nails. We haven’t used the baby dishes yet, but I think that time will come soon.”
Supporting the Shor people is one of the key endeavors in Kiyzassky Open Pit Mine’s social program. Over the company’s ten years of operation, it has improved living conditions in traditional Shor settlements in Myski, funded the publication of five textbooks for learning the Shor language, helped establish the ‘Ene Tag’ Spiritual Center, and much more.
